Amazing! The three Chet’ idea was brilliant and
allowed you to see her growth. The songs,
costumes and choreography were incredible. I
would see it again

BABE WAS GREAT
Was long but was so good you did not notice it. Kept my interest the whole time. they pulled off the 3 cher theme wonderfully. Loved Babe. What a professional debut. Long career ahead. Can't wait to see this on Broadway. Interaction with Sonny was incredible.

FABULOUS
Was at the matinee show yesterday - not sure what to expect. It was fantastic. The leads were all amazing - Stephanie J. Block knocked it out of the part. I want to see it again. It was about 2-1/2 hours so I think they have made some cuts because I read that it was 3 hours. Oh - and Cher came into the theatre just as the second act started. What a fun and terrific show - go see it !!

BELIEVE!
Tells Cher's story from being young and
following her dreams and making it. The
singing, choreography of not just the
dancers but also intertwinming all 3 Cher's
was smart. The Bob Mackie gowns were
terrific and Jarrod Spector from Jersey Boys
as Sonny was great. Greg Allman, Rob
Camiletti and of course her mother Georgia
Holt were all portrayed perfectly by the
performers. Go see it, get your Broadway
tickets now. This show is appealing for
everyone. Young and Old and some of us
who just love to be entertained!

EXCELLENT
This show is so good I want to see it again! The very beginning (when she was a little
girl) seemed a bit cheesy to me but once things got going it was wonderful. It definitely
was not too long as some others have said. If you're a fan of Cher you will love every
minute of it and even if you're not (I've never been a huge fan) it's a great show. The
music is wonderful, the choreography is excellent and the Bob Mackie gowns and
costumes are breathtaking. Three cheers for the 3 Cher's!!! I would highly recommend
seeing it!

EXCEPTIONAL SHOW WORTH SEEING MULTIPLE TIMES
I have been a Cher fan and followed her career from the 60s to current. I just saw her in
Las Vegas in April. It took me about 10 minutes to adjust to seeing someone playing
Cher and singing her songs since I had just been to a Cher concert. Cher’s career journey
and primary romantic interests where told using the songs of Cher and Sonny & Cher.
There are stand out numbers, exceptional costuming, and a heart-felt story. A friend
who attended with me knew of Cher but not a lot about her. He found the show very
emotional and entertaining. I plan to see this show again when it moves to New York.
Thomas K from Chicago, Illinois
TONS OF FUN
The superb story line, incredible music, exquisite costumes, and skillful dancing blended
beautifully!! As a long time Cher fan this walk thru time was truly a delightful treat.
Cher is so much more than just an extraordinary singer. The show does a first rate job
of portraying the many talents and fascinating life of this brilliant all around performer.
I will be seeing The Cher Show again!!

CHER
Must see!
I saw last night. Loved it. Can’t wait to go again.
Amazing cast. So much talent in one cast.
The opening scene can be tweaked to explain
the three Cher’s. Not sure about the opening
scene song with sewing machine. The story,
cast, costumes, dancing all outstanding.
You could debate for hours and still couldn’t
agree who had the best voice. All were
amazing. The solo dancer in the big dance
number will blow you away.
This cast is Broadway bound.
I had $100 seats... worth every penny.
You will leave and wake up the next morning
singing the songs and wanting more.
My advice bring back in reruns the Cher tv
show. I’d watch.
Don’t miss this play. Throughly an enjoyable
fun night. Loved

A VISUAL FEAST FOR THE EYS
I came to the show with no expectations. How would they ever be able to fit her
entire 50 plus year career into just a few hours? But they did a really good job of
including the highlights. We see her go from child to superstar before out eyes.
The three ladies playing her did really great jobs. People need to remember that
they are actresses not Cher impersonators. This is a representation of Cher, her
power, strength and tenacity is what shows in this piece.
The costumes were nothing short of flawless. So many iconic outfits were
represented on stage. The audience applauded her most famous outfits. The sets
and lighting were well done. A great use of stage space.
The rest of the ensemble was great, Sonny was really good and the actor portraying
Gregg Allman did a great job as well. As for dancers and rest of the cast. they were
all on point and should be commended.
I can't say anything bad about about the show. I loved it and plan on seeing it again.

I LAUGHED AND I CRIED
Not only was the show hysterical as it poked fun at the iconic diva, but it gave real
insight into the trials and tribulations during her rise to fame. At times I actually cried.
I've always been a fan, but my 21 year old daughter who saw the show with me, now
has a new found love for Cher, and we were both left the theater craving more. I've had
the pleasure of seeing Cher live in Chicago before, and believe me, this is the next best
thing !

BRILLIANT PERFORMANCE - GET YOUR TICKETS NOW!
A must see before it leaves for Broadway! Thanks to Cher for sharing her amazing journey! James, I am sorry to say, I think your comment LACKS SUBSTANCE and it is not kind. You may have to wait for the next Tony Awards to see that it will be the Musical of the Year!

CHER WORK IN PROGRESS
Saw the show tonight. The 3 actressss were
amazing. Jarrod Spector, who plays “Sonny” is
Sonny! Just an uncanny performance. Stepanie
J. Block was sensational! Such a heartfelt
performance. Both Michela Diamond and Teal
Wicks as the younger Cher’s were excellent.
The cast as a whole are all extremely talented
and enjoyable to watch. The show is a bit long
and lags in some spots but can easily be fixed. I
would like to see more up tempo Cher music.
All in all this show is a must see. My group all
came out of the theater with big smiles!

WONDERFUL ACTING/MUSIC/COSTUMES/NEEDS A TWEAK OR TWO
I really enjoyed this show and can recommend it - with one reservation - I think the
story arc needs some tweaking. The good stuff - I LOVED the treatment of the 3
aspects of Cher, all the staging, the costumes, and the music - though acoustics of
the Oriental are not great in the upper decks . But I REALLY dislike the last
scene/end of story arc. The solo is breathtakingly beautiful and powerful. But it says
she's still the same lost little girl from scene 1 and hasn't grown at all and is still
searching for a man. Really? It's a total disconnect to survivor Cher/public eye diva
Cher. It also makes Take me Home seem disjointed - a pandering add-on to prevent
people from leaving the theater in a down mood. Give serious consideration to the
comments made by Warren from DC, and you'll have a decades-long run on
Broadway.
Kristi from Chicago, Illinois
SPARKLY TRIBUTE
I saw the show tonight with a friend. First, the
women playing Cher were terrific. Particularly
the star Cher. She was really great. Actually,
the supporting cast and other cast members
were equally as terrific. There’s one particular
dance scene that is pretty phenomenal. And
the costumes were just sequined sunshine.. I
think the first act needs a little tweaking, felt
like they were trying to put too much story in
that amount time and I thought the time lapse
was a little bit choppy. But I found the second
act to be solid. Was a great finish. I think
there’s some great bones in the show. With
some slight tweaking to the storyline, could be
fantastic. Very fun and I left with a smile on my
face. Extremely happy I saw this.
Brenda Bonds from Chicago, Illinois
GREAT PERFORMANCES, STORYLINE NEEDS WORK
The casting, performances, and costumes were absolutely spectacular! If you
are a Cher fan, you will definitely be satisfied. Unfortunately, the vehicle they
use to tell her story is a bit confusing. I would have preferred the three "Chers"
be kept separate until the end, I think that would have been a more powerful
conclusion. And there was too much focus on Sonny. Also, the Cinderella angle
was not necessary.
Brian from Chicago, Illinois
GOOD WITH LOTS OF POTENTIAL
I saw the performance on June 23. The show has been slimmed down to 2 hours and 35 minutes (which seems like quite a bit based on earlier reviews of 3 hours). I think there is still some big tension in the book- this idea of it being a TV variety special about her life- this makes it strange sometimes as scenes are performed around cameras (like the scene of Star Cher with Rob). Then there are times where this is not present and we just have the biographical moments. I am not sure if the folks behind the show read this feedback but I would suggest: jettisoning the variety show aspect (you could have Star Cher narrate her life while letting the other two Cher's still perform those appropriate time frames)- also the opening number of Act II needs to go! Act I can be about Sonny and Cher but Act II needs no more Sonny- Cher needs to be front and center. The good: costumes, performances (Stephanie J. Block is a vocal powerhouse), and the orchestrations. It has so much potential!

ENTERTAINING
Having 3 Cher's was hard to follow at times but overall I enjoyed the show. The Cher with the
Curly hair sounded the most like her and I enjoyed watching her the most. I wish there was 1
Cher to show the progression of her life. I will be seeing the real Cher in Nov. in Vegas so I am
glad I saw this to refresh my memory about her past.
I thought it was very entertaining and alot of good dance routines.

FOR THE GLAM OF IT ALL
The Cher Show is interesting. The story of an awkward, dyslexic teen propelled by a
variety show into song, theater and film bears seeing. I mean who would think that her
success could even happen? The lady is tougher than a boa that's why. Using 3 Chers
via a variety show format is rather clever. We enjoyed the 3 Chers and their
interactions. Babe Cher stayed starstruck, Middle Cher remained confused and
conflicted due to being in the thick of her own life and Star Cher brings the experience
and oh, the sass. We assume the director will tweak it so the audience can exit in 2.5
hrs and improve the comedy (content, timing) along with the transition to the final
punch. The lighting and set are fantastic. The costumes will win awards. For adults too
young to know anything about Cher, you will enjoy the ingenuity and glamour of the
70's-80s. Go enjoy the show. It's time to whip our hair, fold our arms and get on.
XAV from Chicago, Illinois
FUN AND COLORFUL.
There was really only one part that dragged a little, otherwise the time went by
quickly and a good time was had by all. The Bob Mackie number steals the show. The
crowd was all ages, and they gave the cast a standing ovation. I don't know how
someone unfamiliar with her songs (but isn't everyone over 35 at least somewhat
familiar with her songs?) would like the show, but all the hits except "Love and
Understanding" (inexplicably omitted)--from oldest to more recent--are here, several
arranged in a different way and a couple of other actors get to shine besides the
three Chers (and yes, IMO that gimmick works). My friend who has seen all the
"jukebox" musicals said this was one of the most fun.
Phyllis from Chicago, Illinois
LOVED MOST OF THE SHOW.
This show left me with mixed feelings.
Loved the music, great voices and a good representation of her music. Loved the
interactions between the three Chers, for me it showed that although we evolve as human
beings our present is still influenced by our past. The Bob Mackie fashion tribute was
fantastic. The dancing superb. And I must say that the recreation of the set from the
Sonny and Cher Show took me back to my childhood watching the show with my family.
Negatives: A bit too long, especially the first act. Several people I talked to or observed
had to leave and use the restroom before intermission. Too focused on her years with
Sonny. Lastly the parting note which gave me the impression she is still yearning for that
elusive man who will not leave her.

CHER
Being a Cher fan 45 years I was taking this
grain of salt. Let’s not forget it’s not Cher. So
expectations were low. I enjoyed it he’ll lot
more than thought. Could not pick but I drove
5 hours see it. Was it worth it? Yes

CLEVER PLAY ON MERGING TIME PERIODS
Loved the method of merging various life periods rather than shelving
them into separate, distinct layers. Life never happens that clearly.
The closing scene depicts an almost life circle, what most of us will
experience along with Cher. Caught her unmistakable wit throughout.
Will go again!
Diane from Chicago, Illinois
ENTERTAINING SHOW
I love Broadway shows and although I wanted to love it unequivocally, it
does not stand next to classics such as Hamilton, Jersey Boys, The Book
of Mormons or other Broadway greats. While the costumes were
exquisite, the 3 Cher’s woven and seen together was confusing-I would
have liked seeing their progression separately. The dancing was
amazing, beyond amazing and a sensuality that captured Cher’s essence.
The singing throughout was excellent.
The first act was vibrant but ithe second act was on the slow side. I loved
the history of the Sonny and Cher show and the nostalgia pieces but
unfortunately something was missing for me. When I left Hamilton I was
on such a high and could not stop thinking about it and kept singing the
songs but I did not feel as intense for this musical and I really wanted to.
I think the ping-ponging of the three different Cher’s left me with a
headache and much confusion to their purpose in advancing the story.
Deb Stamm from Chicago, Illinois
WOWED THE AUDIENCE
Voices were very powerful and dancing was exceptional. Cher’s storyline was clearly
portrayed in this stunning performance. The audience was totally awed and responded
accordingly. I’d highly recommend this show as it covered all the bases of
entertaining...fabulous singing,, dancing, costumes and a thought provoking story.
Jordon from Chicago, Illinois
LONG LIVE GODESS CHER
The above review is just silly. Every single
thing in Chers life can not be in the show. If it
were, the show would never end!...she's 72!
The show by no means lacked emotion...in
fact, there are a few emotionally charged
moments that were beautifully acted. The
show doesnt make her look like a victim or
cougar. It makes her look HUMAN. (Despite
popular belief, she is human! ;)) It illustrates
things that die hard wouldnt know...he
money struggles with Sonny, stage fright,
insecurities, dyslexia, heartbreak, and the
price of fame. So many actual cher quotes
are woven into the script and I think the way
the songs are woven in work wonderfully to
drive the story. It's not perfect. A couple
moments may need tweaking. Young
Cher=no. Her voice is too high and it's like
she wasn't even trying to be Cher at all. I
forsee a re cast. Stephanie as "star" Cher is
BRILLIANT. Especially her act 2. She did her
homework...and she brought me to tears.
Go see The Cher Show!

VERY ENTERTAINING, GREAT MUSIC, COSTUMES, DID NOT DISAPPOINT
The show was very entertaining. The 3 Cher's really worked for me. I loved the 3 stages
of Cher's life. Costumes were outstanding. I liked that Bob Mackie was a part of the
show too. Very entertaining for anyone who appreciates Cher's music. They did a nice
job using her music to tell her story.
This was a story about Cher, not Chaz!
They did a good job with the time allowed to tell the story of Cher and that is how it
should have been.
A very talented group.
Christopher R from Chicago, Illinois
POORLY WRITTEN, EXCELLENT EXECUTION
Stage design and costumes were flawless. The talent
was exceptional. The storyline however was a bit
confusing and focused mostly on the Cher and Sonny
period. We were very entertained but it could have
been a show about global warming, with this cast still
a hit. Needs a rewrite before it hits Broadway. Unless
you really follow cheers life from birth to Sonny's
death, you may be lost and not understand many of
the references. However my 24 y.o. non Cher
following husband, was "really entertained but had
no idea what was going on". I look forward to seeing
the improvements made and seeing it again in New
York. It was well worth the $90 a seat I paid. Far
better quality production than what we see on
Broadway usually. Just had higher expectation and
wanted more of the new, post Sonny Cher. Very
happy we went.
Shelly Gillette from Chicago, Illinois
LOVED THE CHER SHOW!
Fantastic music and performances, wonderful choreography and absolutely beautiful
costumes and staging. The interpretation of Cher's life with 3 amazing performers was
truly original. All 3 captured Cher's voice, look and style perfectly. Last night's opening
performance ended with a standing ovation and the audience remaining on their . feet
singing and dancing the last number. The show was almost 3 hours and I felt it was
somewhat too long, however, I couldn't recommend which number to cut ... they were
all great! Also, the "Sonny" performer looked and sounded just like him. Treat yourself
to this show ... it will definitely be a hit on Broadway!
Cher H from Chicago, Illinois
TOO LONG!
Needs to be shortened! Too much talking.
Too much about Sonny!! Should have
focused more on her talent, songs and when
she was on her own... We were bored after
One hour. I love Cher! This play was way too
long!! A lot of things were irrelevant...
Music was very good! Of course, Cher's
wardrobe were amazing!! But, so much can
be removed. How about adding the ship
with sailors and Cher in her hot costume
singing, If I could turn back Time. All of it!!
Renee from Chicago, Illinois
THE CHER MUSICAL
Was ok didn’t like the 3 Cher’s talking to each other was kind of weird.
First two Cher’s didn’t sound like her. 3rd Cher was excellent. No
mention of Chaz with Sonny Bono but mention Elisha blue with Gregg
Alman would of liked to see more of Cher’s sassy ness, humor.
Sonny character was very good
1st act needs improvement had a hard time keeping interested.
Second act much better.
Sat center balcony at oriental theatre faces of actors hard to see.
Beautiful theatre. Parking very expensive and not too many places
nearby for a quick drink.
Brian from Chicago, Illinois
CHER SHOW
The 3 Cher’s are worth the price of admission,
with all three having great voices and solid
impersonations of Cher. However, the story
made me feel that Cher was a victim
throughout her life, and despite great fame
and money, is still looking for happiness. Bit of
a downer. Didn’t get any sense of empowering
woman. If that’s what they are going for, then
they did a good job. Left me with a bad taste in
my mouth, and doubt this show in its current
form would make it on Broadway. Seen over
250 shows, 50 on Broadway. Stephanie Block is
a star and just seeing her perform was a gift.
John Schroeder from Chicago, Illinois
A WORK IN PROGRESS
Watching The Cher Show on opening night, I was reminded of reading the forth or fifth
draft of a good story. You know there's something there, and with some edits, it could
be really good.
My thought - and hope - is that the producers intentionally put in the 3 hours of
material (far too long) with the thought of trimming it to, say, 2:30 based on audience
feedback.
With shortening and tightening up of the many story lines, this'll be a great show. I
remember seeing an early version of Spamalot pre-Broadway, and had exactly the same
reaction. It was shortened and tightened, and the rest is history.
To be clear, the audience thoroughly loved the show, with an enthusiastic standing
ovation all the way around. So, perhaps I'm being too critical, but in my view it's a good
show that could become a great one.
Richard from Chicago, Illinois
ENTERTAINING BUT NEEDS EDITING
The show was very entertaining & entirely too long. Some serious editing needs to
occur before a Broadway opening or it will fail miserably!! The Bob Mackie number
was, perhaps, the highlight of the show, however, this isn't the Cher/Bob Mackie
show. It's Cher. Overuse of the 'Bang, Bang" song. The conception of a "show
within a show" completely fell apart/disappeared in the 2nd act. I think the 3 Cher
concept works but Stephanie Block is the highlight of this show. Overall, it was fun,
I'm glad I saw it but it wasn't very memorable. The editing of the show's book will
either make or break this show.
Lwoods62 from Chicago, Illinois
UNREALIZED POTENTIAL
Want to love this show... I am not a Cher fanatic by
any means but grew up watching Cher and have
expectations. First off positives: 1.) set works and
allows the show to keep moving. 2.) the costumes are
incredible and they had foresight to incorporate Bob
Mackie into the storyline also. 3.) the three leads had
great voices that quota work can vocally carry off
Cher’s unique qualities. That being said the three
leads have the vocals but have not quite achieved
Cher’s swagger and attitude. This show will never
succeed until they master those qualities. Cher has
the ability to fill the stage without moving far from
center. They are all slightly tentative and that distracts
from the show’s overall effectiveness. The youngest
Cher needs to not stay in little girls clothes for so
long. It makes initial scenes with Sunny Bono seem
creepy. Maybe replace with a child for that scene and
have Cher singing to side like watching video. Then
you can bring in her as teen Cher. This show is one
that has unrealized potential if its transitions are
smoother and its leads find a way to unleash that
swagger that is Cher.
Mark Schneider from Chicago, Illinois
GOOD SHOW AND YET...
Singing great, costumes great, script fell
short for me. Not as engaging as I hoped for.
Sandy Gould from Chicago, Illinois
SO FAR SO GOOD BUT NEEDS WORK PRIOR TO BROADWAY
Excellent voices, acting, costumes, choreography (and bodies). However, ending act
one with three ballads stops the momentum of the production - give consideration
to cutting some and ending with the Mackie number. Act two - again - ballad after
sad ballad after sad ballad to end the show? Cher is a survivor and deserves to end
her show on an upbeat note. Yes the costumes in the closing number are fantastic -
but it does not tie into the story line and again the momentum is already lost -
rewrite, reorganize, sustain the momentum and end with an upbeat that will bring
the audience to their feet because they are moved, not because they are polite.
Warren Ellis from Washinton, DC
NEEDS A BETTER BOOK
Great performances, but the show needs a tighter book
Revisions – First Act
You must get rid of all of the Cinderella arc. Instead, portray Babe as someone who always
believed in herself. Start the show with Cher on the playground with tormentors (not seen,
just heard) singing Half Breed. Cher sings a duet with the tormentors. Her Mother can
come in at the end and tell her she is special. Reference the opening of My Name Is
Barbra.
Show all of the men that came through her Mother’s life – Gypsies, Tramps & Thieves or
Carousel Man.
Get rid of the sewing machine arc. Make it about Sonny spending all of their money on the
piano where we wrote I Got You babe.
Add Living In A House Divided showing that Sonny lived with his girlfriend on one side of
the mansion.
Napoleon Number what’s the point? I would end with Sonny and Cher singing What Now
My Love?
End with Believe, not Take Me Home.
Use Take Me Home as the Curtain Call.
Mary Hough from Chicago, Illinois
PRE BROADWAY
People need to understand this is a pre-broadway show and not a finished product.
If you attended opening night and then went again at closing night you would see a
different show. Cher is producing this show so it is not someone who is just putting
out what they want. NOW as a musician I can say the music was great the show
needs to cut some numbers and some scenes (like the one with the boyfriend in the
second act - it brought the show to a screeching halt). The dresses being displayed
was gorgeous and that should be the end of the 1st act and lead into intermission.
When it didn't end it was weird.
They need to make Cher a little stronger. The three singers were great and will only
get better as their comfort level grows. I would have loved to hear more complete
songs instead of all the snippets but it tells a good story. Cher is a strong
empowered women but the show didn't end big enough with that theme
Suzanne from Chicago, Illinois
WAS NOT WOWED!
As stated above by others.....I was not wowed.
The flow was not as I expected. Did not like the
concept of 3 Cher characters on stage
together. Voices were ok but not the deep
fullness of Cher’s. Many songs and parts could
be eliminated. Did not at all like the dream part
aka Disney reference. Lot of tweaking to get to
Broadway. Was not on much of a high at the
end as I thought I’d be.
Nicki from Chicago, Illinois
JUST PAY FOR A BALCONY SEAT
It started very slow like a Marriot Lincolnshire Theater Production but finally picked up speed. The 3 Cher's were confusing and should have just done it with the lead Stephanie Block who had the "Cher walk" down to a science. No mention at all of Chastity/Chaz or Gene Simmons of Kiss...strange? Emily Skinner who played Cher's mom had a great voice. A few good parts like the Bob Mackie fashion show and the duet of "After All." I enjoyed it because I only bought a $33 seat in the high balcony but it was just fine. There were 35 songs and it was 3 hours long. I think the problem with this show is the venue. Cher fans in the audience wanted to clap and sing along dance and stand but the "Broadway play " type venue limited that excitement. The finale allowed for the fans to let loose and the best part of the evening
Tate from Chicago, Illinois
NO LONGER SURE IF I BELIEVE IN LIFE AFTER LOVE
This production is--in a word--absurd. That absurdity is at times, delightful, and at
other times, a bit of a mess. The Bob Mackie number, for example, which culminates
in flamboyantly costumed cast emerging from a line of closet doors in the colors of a
rainbow was a moment when this show was at its absolute most ridiculous, and
therefore, best. Ironic that one of the cast members says "this isn't a Dickens novel"
when we are being visited by the Ghost of Cher past, present, and future throughout
the show. Shoutout to the dude who played Sonny's anachronistic pecs. I'm willing
to suspend my disbelief for three Chers, but not for the idea that Sonny would ever
be able to bench press more than 50 lbs. "Believe" was used so many times that I
think they have to rename it "Believe (Theme from The Cher Show)" for legal
reasons. In many ways, it is the theater equivalent of her Twitter page. Bummer that
the men who Cher has lost (not her many accomplishments) are the show's plot
scaffolding.
James from Chicago, Illinois
CHER SHOW LACKED SUBSTANCE
A missed theatrical opportunity to highlight the
full life story of Cher. Not one scene about
Chaz’s transition and how that effected Cher as
a mother. The show was a nice tribute to
Sunny but the rest was about her as a Cougar,
actress and being portrayed as a victim. I did
not get a sense of female empowerment and
where was the Pride in this show to all her
fans. The acting and singing was great and
overall entertaining. But the story lacked
substance, truth and didn’t have an overall
message. It was like ABBA but that was not an
actual real plot line and the audience knew it.
Suzy from Chicago, Illinois
GREAT SINGING, COSTUMES, HOWEVER...
I really wanted to love this show, but it was just ok. The 3 actresses playing Cher had
amazing voices and the costumes were fantastic. This show was 3 hours long and there
were definitely scenes that could have been cut. Having the Cher characters talking to
each other throughout and singing together was somewhat disturbing. All in all would
still recommend if you love the music, but storyline was somewhat weak.
Donna M from Braidwood Illinois
CONFUSING
Don't think it will be a long Broadway run.
Too confusing with 3 Cher characters on the
stage at once. Costumes great and singers
tried very hard. Actually dozed off before
intermission. Very disappointed especially
since the high balcony seats were so
expensive. I would hope they tweek it alot
before it hits Broadway. Still admire Cher.
Maureen from Chicago, Illinois
NEEDS WORK
The three actresses playing Cher were talented, especially Stephanie Block who
even has Cher’s body movements down cold. Bob Mackie’s costumes were
beautiful and a sight to behold. But the book needs a lot of work. It’s
cumbersome and rather dull in some parts, especially the second half of the show.
Wanted to like it because huge fan of Cher, but it’s not quite there yet.
Andy from Chicago, Illinois
WAY TOO LONG
way too long. very light on the book. much credit to the dancers and the three girls who played
Cher. Left at intermission....was hoping for more singing and dancing and less grindingly slow
dialogue.
from Chicago, Illinois
IN A WORD, "MEH"
Let me start by saying I LOVE musical theater and go often. As other reviewers have
commented, The Cher Show is often confusing and lacks true substance. The three
actors who portray Cher are excellent performers and each did her best. But the
story construction is weak and attempts to cover so much ground that the story
(and the audience's ability to fully appreciate all that Cher overcame and
accomplished) is sorely underdeveloped.
The use of three actors to portray Cher is also a confusing (and distracting). Initially, I
thought each "Cher" was intended to represent a different period of Cher's life. But
this is not the case. The three actors are used interchangeably throughout the
performance without rhyme or reason, except for the fact that it helps with quick
costume changes when one "Cher" is onstage while the other two make a costume
change.
Overall, I was really disappointed and left feeling like I'd wasted my time.
Edna Schrank from Chicago, Illinois
VERY DISJOINTED
It was confusing to see all three "Cher" actresses on stage at the same time and the
addition of her life and the TV show was not a very fluid production.
We think that this needs a lot of work if it is going to make in on Broadway.
Chantel from Grand Rapids, MI
AT LEAST AN HOUR TOO LONG
Wow, the producers really think this is going to make it on Broadway?
Since a friend had tickets, The Cher Show only cost me the price of the
drink I bought for my friend. I would have felt ripped off if I had spent
a single dollar more. This show is way too long--three hours long.
They used both song and book to portray the same scene over and
over again when one or the other would have easily sufficed.
Seriously, cut the book and songs stat. This show has the feel of way
too many cooks in the kitchen--as well as way too many Chers. I guess
they are going the Donna Summer route. How original. The singular
highlight were the fabulous Bob Mackie costumes. If only the show
had lived up to his fabulousness!

WASTE OF TIME
Telling the story of one of the most iconic female superstars of all time through her relationships with men...a total utter failure and disrespect!!! Cher deserves better than this. If you thought Sunny Bono couldn't get more annoying, you'd be wrong...the way he is played in this play is almost as painful as looking at the awful wigs. The few highlights was some remarkable dancers and decent choreography, as well as some gorgeous costumes (though some looked like they were from a high school play) and some glittery, blingy set designs. Overall, I think this production is a total waste of time and money. Cher deserves the very best...this is definitely not it.

ONLY GO IF YOU WANT TO HEAR CHER'S SONGS PERFORMED BY MANY
We went opening night and, admittedly, had high expectations. The show failed to deliver in several areas. First, the 3 main characters did a poor job of 'impersonating' Cher. The younger of the 3 was the best.. she sang in her own style and did the song justice. The others tried to imitate Cher and.. well, you know how that turns out. Some of the music was from recordings and not the orchestra, which was really odd (and poor quality). It also seemed like some songs were being lip synched.. that's really bad!
As noted by another reviewer, the show lacked substance about many things Cher and her rise, her dealing with Chaz's transition and delivering a statement of empowerment for women. There was also a lack of continuity in the story, which could leave the audience confused at times.
Bottom line.. they have a lot of refining to do to make this worthy of going.

SIMPLY AWFUL
As I watched, more and more, my thought was....this is LAME. Whoever wrote it has no
idea how to tell a cohesive story. The childhood stuff, the first 20 minutes or so, was
embarrassing to watch. Having multiple Chers, never knowing who was who, never
knowing what the story arc was, all of it, made it seem interminable. The music was fine,
but singing Bang Bang as a child when her stepfather left, and changing the text to “my
daddy shot me down” was lame. Singing Half Breed as a child, when the song wouldn’t
be released for 20 years or so....lame. The highlight of the show was I Got You Babe, with
the actor playing Sonny nailing the song. But my feeling was....I paid $100 to hear one
song well done by two impersonators?
The day before, we saw The Buddy Holly Story. It was $25 per ticket and SO much more
enjoyable. His life story was told chronologically, the music rocked, and everyone looked
happy to be in it.
Overall...save your money. Even if you love Cher, this will disappoint.

SIIP IT
This show is about 1.5 hours too long. There are about 14 too many songs. The
ensemble dancers were clunky. The 2nd act is painfully long. The 3 actresses
portraying Cher were more impersonators than portraying. They were shouting every
song as loud as possible. Very poor performance quality. Should have left at
intermission. No way this will make it on Broadway.
