OUTSTANDING

When he first comes on stage, I am thinking: Sean Hayes. That is fine within seconds. He becomes Oscar and only inhabits him deeper as the play goes on. His performance is such that one would want to save the standing ovation for just him, but that would not do justice to the rest of the cast, who never utter a false word. This is a superb production, and earned the standing ovation it got, in an era where those are given out to frequently to undeserved productions. Go see it—you will not be disappointed.

GOOD NIGHT OSCAR

Was just a wonderful experience. Sean Hayes and the rest of the cast were excellent. It was funny and sad at the same time. Highly recommend this play.

OSCAR YOU DEFINITELY WILL MEET TONY

Simply delicious, delightful and timely. Each member of the seven person onstage cast and its two voiceover actors connected in perfectly parsed repartee that captured the FRESH essence of Doug Wright's play as directed by Lisa Peterson. And what a pianist in Sean Hayes who gave us a concert, comedy, and acting all in one show. Theatre needs more original plays such as " Good Night, Oscar" rather than the stereotypical revivals. The lights on Broadway are destined to present "Good Night, Oscar" with numerous Tony's. And for those of us here in Chicago we can say we saw it first. Kudos. Kudos. Kudos.

JOKES AND MENTAL ILLNESS

People love ecentric people without really carimg for them. Everyone wants to make a buck or get fame from oddballs without really knowing the person. Sean Haynes as Oscar is excellent. All the cast members are good as stereoypes of various attitdes towards mentally ill people. Some try to help, while others only encourage their eccentric ways. Everyone has a unique talent. Some people can live with their talent while others cannot. This play forces us to look at our behavior towards odd talented people.
