One of the city's most iconic landmarks, The Chicago Theatre originally opened as a grand movie palace in the 1920s. Designed by renowned architectural firm Rapp & Rapp, the building takes up almost half a city block. Today, its grand auditorium showcases everything from concerts to touring Broadway shows.

Chicago Shakespeare Theater is a non-profit theater company which holds over 600 annual performances throughout most of the year. The company re-located in 1997 to Navy Pier and now hosts the largest youth and family-orientated arts-in-education program in the state of Illinois - the "Team Shakespeare" program. The theater has won many awards, including 77 Joseph Jefferson awards, 3 Laurence Olivier Awards and the 2008 Regional Theatre Tony Award.

The largest building in the whole United States when it first opened, Chicago's Auditorium Building was designed by Danmark Adler and 'father of the skyscraper' Louis Sullivan. The building's imposing, bulky facade is offset by the theatre's dazzling interior of gold-leafed arches and wall mosaics. It's currently home to the legendary Joffrey Ballet company and also plays host to hundreds of concerts and comedy shows every year.
