A spellbinding performance
Join the Chicago Symphony Orchestra as they perform works from three of history's greatest composers at the Symphony Center. Opening with the moving prelude to the third act of Wagner's Die Meistersinger von Nrnberg, the concert continues with violinist Christian Tetzlaff leading Bartok's Second Violin Concerto. The stirring finale is a performance of English composer Vaughan Williams' Fifth Symphony, composed during the bombings of London during World War II.
Conducted by Edward Gardner, principal conductor of the London Philharmonic, the performance celebrates 150 years since the birth of Vaughan Williams, one of England's most celebrated classical composers.
