Orchestral funk
Dedicated to keeping the soul of 70s groove-heavy funk alive, New York-based 7-piece revival outfit Lettuce has spent three decades getting people moving to their heady blend of experimental electronic, hip hop, funk and jazz. The band brings their exceptional musicality, improvisational genius and rhythmic virtuosity to Chicago for a special one-night-only show with the Philharmonic this March!
The event features Lettuce material arranged by composer Tom Hagerman, fusing the band's glorious brass, rhythm section and signature soulful hammond organ with soaring orchestral arrangements that are sure to clear the rafters. Calling to mind the outerspace jams of the Miles Davis fusion era, Lettuce's fantastical music flights of fancy move swiftly from one track to the next whilst blurring the lines between recorded structures and improvisation, marking live performances as truly one-of-a-kind events.
