An uplifting play about modern life whilst honoring your heritage forms the base of this new work by Lauren Yee, a world premiere commission for Goodman. Set in America's largest Chinatown in San Francisco, this play chronicles the conflict between patriarchal family values and the desire to live ones own life as a Chinese American woman; this comes to a head when a treasured family member goes missing one day, and a desperate search for them leads her into the heart of her heritage and culture.

Following their two previous Goodman collaborations, Tony winner Robert falls and Golden Globe nominee Stacy Keach reunite for this story about Ernest Hemingway's later years. Written by Jim McGrath, Pamplona finds the literary titan holed up in a hotel room in Spain, with a deadline looming and his latest work very far from being finished.

The Pulitzer Prize-winning Suzan-Lori Parks returns to Chicago with this brand new production from the Mark Taper Forum in 2016, which is an epic work of war and freedom seen through the eyes of a slave. Forming part of the 2017/18 season at the Goodman Theatre, "Father..." is a searing indictment of war, that shows that it is rarely fought by those who have a choice in the matter. In particular, our protagonist is Hero, who is dragged from his life of drudgery in West Texas to fight the Confederate cause on the battlefield.

First premiering last year at Chicago's 16th Street Theater, Rohina Malik's sweet-natured drama about relationships and racial identity transfers to The Goodman as part of their 2017/18 season. We follow the confllicted journey of Abdul Samee, who changed his name to Sam to integrate with his American peers. Hiding that he has an Iraqi father and Puerto Rican mother, if anybody asks him about his heritage, he firmly answers that he is Italian-American. He even goes as far to marry an American woman to disguise his mixed roots. However his life is turned upside down when a stranger arrives from Iraq, and his attraction to her forces him to examine his reasons for hiding who he is.

Sarah DeLappe's teenage soccer training drama made waves in New York when it premiered off-Broadway at The Playwrights Realm in 2016, with accolades going towards the frenetic training sequences happening on-stage by the cast. Winning the American Playwriting Foundation's inaugural Relentless Award, The Wolves was also a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and the Yale Prize. The struggles of girls are rarely depicted on stage without focus shared with men, and thus the majority of the play takes place between nine young women who in between training, discuss everything from periods to politics, often putting friendships on the line in the process.
