Why see Blood Memory?
World Premiere
Blood Memory is the latest work from Pulitzer-prize and Drama Desk nominated playwright and performer Dael Orlandersmith (Yellowman, Beauty's Daughter), directed by Neel Keller. A solo performance featuring the playwright herself, it's a work exploring the decisions we make when facing up to those who won't look inwards at their own system of beliefs, and whether we engage or retreat back into a place of safety.
It's theatre that invites audiences to sit with complexity and consider what divides us and what brings us together. In Blood Memory Orlandersmith encourages us to consider the way we navigate difference and discomfort, as well as what brings us together into a sense of belonging. It is a piece about confrontation, but as a path to connection.
