JUST MEH

Sound wasn’t the best and at times I couldn’t understand the actors. Music was good but the story was just meh. I didn’t connect with the play and did not feel moved once.

DISAPPOINTED

I attended the performance at the Detroit Fisher Theatre. I had a seat on the mezzanine level and it was a good seat. I have to say, I was disappointed. The performers were mediocre at best. I really felt like they were just going through the motions. There was no emotional impact or connection. The theater itself is beautiful, so I enjoyed being there and everyone who worked there was efficient and polite. As a disabled guest, though, I was disappointed to find that there were no handicapped accessible bathroom stalls on the mezzanine level. There was a long line for the bathroom during intermission and the performance began again before most of the women were out of the line, including me. I ended up leaving at intermission because they would not let me go back to my seat and I was just done with everything by that point. I found out later there is a handicapped accessible bathroom in the foyer of the building.

TERRIBLE MUSICAL

Why would anyone produce a musical about a person with mental health problems making implausible decisions without a hint of ethics? And a supporting cast of people having deeply superficial reactions to the death of a person they barely knew? Initially I was baffled, and by the intermission I was actively pissed off. Adding to the cringeworthy story are uninspired songs that really don't convey the emotional message the production seems to think they do. Don't waste your money on a ticket to this show.

emotional Remarkable INSPIRING

Get dressed, pack your tissues, and go see this show!

Dear Evan Hansen beautifully explores the search for love, dealing with grief, loneliness, and self-exploration while being surrounded by digital noise. We may have mastered worldwide connectivity but have we begun to conquer the power of communication?
