Shakespeare's tale of an enchanted island receives an all-star reinvention this Fall at Chicago's Shakespeare Theater. The production is co-directed by four-time Helen Hayes Award winner Aaron Posner (My Name is Asher Lev) and Teller, of the duo Penn & Teller. He'll be adding an extra dash of magic to proceedings by incorporating some grand scale illusions into the show.
Promising a Tempest like no other, this staging reimagines The Bard's story of shipwreck and sorcery as a travelling magic show. In the lead role as the mysterious and vengeful Prospero is Larry Yando, who dazzled Chicago audiences last season with his powerhouse turn as King Lear. Providing the show's score are songwritng heavyweights Tom Waits and Kathleen Brennan, while pioneering dance company Pilobolus contribute to the choreography.
