Outgoing Artistic Director bids farewell with her signature production!
After a tenure as Artistic Director with the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre that has seen her stage 60 plays, Barbara Gaines takes her final bow with her acclaimed production of The Comedy Of Errors. The Bard's classic mad-cap comedy, Gaines' 1940s London version takes place on a film set, where the frontstage and backstage high jinks are in the spotlight as a gaggle of actors attempts to make a movie for the Troops. Featuring additional scenes from Second City's Ron West!
This bubbly comedy will whisk you to a faraway land where the fortunes of two sets of identical twins open up a world of romance, seductions, brushes with the law, and of course, plenty of instances of mistaken identity.
What is the story?
Double trouble enters the stage when Antipholus and his servant Dromio pitch up looking for their long-lost twin brothers, also called Antipholus and Dromio, from whom they were separated by a shipwreck long ago. Almost immediately, things unravel, fast!
