Richard is every bit the schemer, dead-eyed and unmoved by the body count he leaves on the way to the throne

A landmark new production of Richard III
At the Courtyard Theatre this February comes a production of Shakespeare's legend of Richard III which brings a boundary-pushing first for the classic play in US theaters. Paralympic star, Tony nominated actor and bilateral amputee Katy Sullivan stars, the first time a US production of the play has featured a woman with a disability in the title role.
What is the story?
Narcissistic and power hungry Richard III is envious of his brother, King Edward IV's after his victory in the long civil war. Malicious and bitter about his physical deformity, Richard grows ever more self obsessed and begins to secretly aspire to the throne, and decides to kill anyone who gets in his way on his path to becoming King.
By the time Richard III reaches the throne, his reign of terror has caused fear among the common people. And has also caused others to challenge his position, one being the earl of Richmond. The ghosts of Richard's past pay him a visit in a terrible dream the night before his dispute with Richmond, and ultimately lead him to his end whilst on the battlefield.
