The Wonderful Wiz

The winner of seven Tonys, The Wiz is an indelible part of musical theatre history. Originally opening on Broadway in 1975, this musical is a reinvention of Frank M. Baum's The Wizard of Oz, retelling the story with an African American cast and scoring it with soul, rock and gospel numbers. Among the most famous numbers are 'Ease on Down the Road' and 'Be a Lion'. The musical's place in the history books was assured by the big screen adaptation starring Michael Jackson and Diana Ross.

This new Chicago production is presented by Kokandy Productions, under the direction of Lili-Ann Brown, and stars a stacked cast of local Chicago talent. It promises a gritty take on the material, showing you a yellow brick road you definitely haven't seen before!
