Add some sonic fire to your evening with Chicago Symphony Orchestra's thrilling performance of Stravinksy's Firebird Suite, as conducted by Riccardo Muti to open the CSO's 23/24 season. Upon its premiere in Paris in 1910, the suite proved a breakthrough for the then 27 year-old composer, becoming an instant classic and solidifying a long and celebrated career thanks to its glittering imagery, Russian folk-tinged rhythms and rising climactic movements.
Also on the program is fellow Russian composer Anatoly Liadov's The Enchanted Lake and Brahms' jovial Second Symphony, completing a marvellous program to kick off the new season.
