The Flannel and the Fury Tour
90s alt-rock nostalgia hits the road across North America, with the co-headline trek of two legendary female acts who fought their way to the top in an era and industry that was stacked against them. Sleater-Kinney and Liz Phair have announced the Flannel and the Fury tour, teaming up to bring the spirit of the Riot Grrrl feminist punk generation back out onto the big stage!
Liz Phair
Cutting her teeth in Chicago's underground alternative music scene in the early 90s, Liz Phair bucked the punk trend by positively embracing her womanhood and releasing homemade tapes under the name Girlysound. In 1993 she was thrust into the international spotlight when her Gold-certified debut album Exile in Guyville was released to much critical acclaim. The feminist singer songwriter's outspoken creative voice and lyrical content tackling the patriarchy in the creative industry would become a trademark in subsequent albums and an inspiration to future generations.
Sleater-Kinney
There are few sounds more impressive in rock than Sleater-Kinney at full throttle. The band honed their assault of dueling vocals and riot-grrrl ferociousness over the course of a decade, beginning with their self-titled debut and culminating with 2005's The Woods. The group went on hiatus, with all members pursuing various solo projects (Wild Flag, Portlandia, Corin Tucker Band) until they reunited in 2015. These days Sleater-Kinney has become a duo, consisting of Carrie Brownstein and Corin Tucker, but still bring the same energy that made them the icons they are.
