After a successful Broadway run, you can now experience the magic Million Dollar Quartet right here at home when a local production hits the in , ,

What Is Million Dollar Quartet About?

On a cold and wet December night in 1956, four young musicians gathered at Sun Records in Memphis for what would be one of the greatest recording sessions ever. You may have heard of them - they were Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and Jerry Lee Lewis, between them making up the eponymous "million dollar quartet". Not an easy feat back in the Fifties!

This impromptu jam session would become the basis of musical legend, four icons of the rock 'n' roll era together singing and recording in one room for the first and only time. Fortunately for the rest of us, the sound engineer who was working at the time was smart enough to press 'record'. And thanks to this quick-thinker, we have the chance to re-imagine the goings-on in that studio.

MDQ brings that legendary night to life, featuring a score of rock hits including Blue Suede Shoes, Fever, That's All Right, Sixteen Tons, Great Balls of Fire, Walk the Line, Whole Lotta Shakin' Goin' On, Who Do You Love?, Matchbox, Folsom Prison Blues, Hound Dog and many, many more. If you're a classic rock fan, this is the one musical you simply cannot afford to miss.

A Crash Course In Rock'N'Roll!

Million Dollar Quartet is not just about the music. The songs are all laced together with stories and anecdotes from the famous foursome and the manager of Sun records, Sam Phillips. The show acts as a mini-history lesson about the birth of rock 'n' roll, and the wider social changes that were afoot at the time.

Did You Know?

The four members of the quartet all had a brother who died before them.

Could not stop smiling!!!

My husband and I saw the show last night, and we and the friends we were with all loved it. The music was amazing, the humor was spot on and the acting superb. The intimacy of the theatre made you feel like you were right there with them. All the characters were incredible musicians and actors. "Jerry Lee Lewis" kept us laughing the whole time, and his piano playing just blew us away. Thank you to the whole cast for a great evening!! We highly recommend the show and are talking about seeing it again. ... Read more

Great show! Great cast! Not a bad seat in the house! Left me and everyone that went with me wanting more which is what a great show is supposed to do. We were all on the edge of our seats and smiling n laughing and shaking our hips n clapping and loving it. We all left saying how awesome the show was. I got home and couldn't sleep because I was on cloud nine. Definitely worth every dollar. ... Read more
