The Producers

The Producers at Mercury Theater

Why see The Producers?

A new production of the multi-Tony winning hit!

Chicago's own Mercury Theatre presents the twelve Tony Award-winning hit musical that turned a fictional flop into a Broadway hit! When a struggling show producer and his inept accountant find themselves on the outs, they come up with a foolproof scheme; write and get a truly awful Broadway show financed and made, then make off with the millions from their investors! However, nobody expects the show to be a hit....and their best-laid plans go awry!

The original production premiered on Broadway in 2001, starring Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the leads. Written by Mel Brooks, this musical draws most of its humor from theatrical Nazis, silly accents and a breakneck journey through the foibles of Broadway, and just how the world of the stage can kick you in the teeth! Listen out for the hit tunes including The King of Broadway, Springtime For Hitler and Where Did We Go Right!
