Tony Winner Richard Greenberg revives classic romantic comedy in Chicago
Tony Award-winning writer Richard Greenberg (Take Me Out) brings a fresh, up-to-date adaptation of Philip Barry's 1920s romance to Chicago's Goodman Theater, opening January 2026. Directed by Tony winner Robert Falls (Death Of A Salesman), this bold vision of Holiday gives the classic romantic comedy an invigorating new lease of life.
Johnny Case has worked hard to earn his riches. The same can't be said of the old money socialites around him. When Johnny meets Julia, a part of the wealthy Seton family, they fall hard for each other. But when they announce their plans for engagement, some of Johnny's in-laws-to-be are far from thrilled. The new family dynamics will only get messier as Johnny must decide what he really wants from his life. Holiday was adapted into a beloved film starring Cary Grant and Katharine Hepburn, and uses sharp comedy to explore social dynamics and the impact of work on our lives.
