The Sound of Music

The Sound of Music at Civic Opera House

Why see The Sound of Music?

Beautiful novice Maria leaves the convent to take over as governess for the seven children of Captain Von Trapp. She captures their hearts - as well as the Captain's - well, you know the rest! The family's narrow escape from Nazi-occupied Austria on the eve of WWII is heart-stopping, inspirational, and not to mention, true!

This much-loved and iconic stage musical features Broadway star Jenn Gambatese playing the role of Maria, alongside home grown sopranos Christine Brewer as the Mother Abbess and Elizabeth Futral as Baroness Elsa Schraede. Taking on the role of Captain Von Trapp is Billy Zane, star of Titanic and Back to the Future. He made his Broadway debut back in 2002, winning acclaim for his portrayal of Billy Flynn in Chicago at The Ambassador Theatre.

This Lyric opera debut of the Rodgers and Hammerstein classic is directed by Marc Brun.
