The Last Waltz Tour

The Last Waltz Tour at The Chicago Theatre

Why see The Last Waltz Tour?

Life Is A Carnival - The Last Waltz Returns!

Held on Thanksgiving Day in November 1976 at San Francisco's Winterland Ballroom, The Last Waltz was The Band's farewell show and went down in history as a cult classic concert thanks to its cinematic immortalization by Martin Scorsese and special guest performers including Eric Clapton, Dr. John, Joanie Mitchell, Muddy Waters, Neil Young, Van Morrison and Ringo Starr, amongst others.

Originally gaining worldwide fame as Bob Dylan's backing band, the group went on to release eight albums of their own, featuring timeless hits like "The Weight," "Up on Cripple Creek," and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." This historic concert comes to life once more this year, catch your local tribute production whilst you can!

mixed feelings

First set was rocking' with great songs by THE BAND/ ROBBIE inserted here and there. After three songs into the second set, I realized I was under the mistaken impression that Mr Robertson was going to make an appearance. I envisioned this show was going to be Robbie Robertson performing with a cast of great musicians to pay homage to the original Waltz. Once the reality sank in, I sat in my seat for the next few songs, arms crossed while feeling kinda stupid that we paid $500 for 4th row pit tickets AND drove 500 miles from Minnesota to see what was essentially a cover band - really good cover band - with no Robbie. I am a guitar player and have been in bands over the last 40 years, two of which were comparable in ability and delivery as these guys. I'm glad we saw this show but will temper my enthusiasm next time and be sure to read the fine print. ... Read more

Starratlarry rebuttal

First off, Starratlarry must be pretty dumb and out of touch to think Robbie Robertson was part of this tour. Secondly he must be a pompous, bombastic donkey to think he or his band mates could compare with Warren Haynes, Anders Osborne or Dave Malone. There was world class talent on that stage last night and they blew the roof off the place. The rhythm section, Don Was and Terrance Higgins amazing. Kathleen Edwards, Jamey Johnson, Cyril Neville all great, horns as well. Don't know what show he saw but starratlarry is way off. ... Read more
