In the early 1900s The Windy City became a hub for African American culture and expression. Escaping oppression in the south, thousands migrated to Chicago and made the city's Bronzeville district their own. The South side neighborhood became the center for huge social and cultural advances, led by towering figures such as Louis Armstrong, Ida B. Wells and Gwendolyn Brooks.
Bronzeville the Musical celebrates this legacy with a vibrantly choreographed story of triumph through adversity, set to a score of jazz, gospel and soul numbers. The show stars Chicago's community actors, with the Mahdi Theatre Company's Orchestra providing the music, and a extra special guests along the way.
