Emerald City Theatre: The Big Friendly Giant

Emerald City Theatre: The Big Friendly Giant at Apollo Theater Mainstage

Why see Emerald City Theatre: The Big Friendly Giant?

One of Roald Dahl's best-loved characters receives the Emerald City treatment this Fall and holiday season. The charming tale of a young orphaned girl who discovers the existence of an alarmingly large but kindly dream-gathering giant, experiences adventure and a sense of belonging, for the first time.

Awakened at the midnight hour at her orphanage, Sophie is alarmed to see a huge giant catching dreams from the other children. After her initial fear, she joins the Big Friendly Giant on a quest to prevent his fierce, much larger brethren from eating "human beans" (that would be us). Along the way, Sophie and the BFG meet the Queen, the frightening giants, and taste weird foods (anybody for snozzcumbers and frobscottle?), and discovers the reason for his collecting dreams.

This production comes ahead of the upcoming movie collaboration from Disney and Dreamworks in 2016, celebrating what would have been Dahl's 100th birthday.
