1. Kinky Boots The Musical

As uplifting as it is fabulous, Kinky Boots The Musical follows struggling shoe factory owner Charlie Price as he joins forces with drag queen Lola in a bid to save his business. Together they create the most glamorous high-heeled boot in history, and it makes everybody say yeah! Directed and choreographed with glitter and charm (by Jerry Mitchell, aka the king of camp), Kinky Boots The Musical celebrates acceptance and self-discovery with music to soothe the sole, straight from the Tony and Grammy award-winning score by Cyndi Lauper!

You can click-clack along and catch Kinky Boots The Musical at Cahn Auditorium until Jan 27, 2024. Book your tickets here!

2. Hamilton

A hip-hop history lesson, anyone? Lin-Manuel Miranda has rewritten (or more appropriately, remixed) the Declaration of Independence with razor-sharp lyrics and smooth R&B beats in the modern, musically dynamic masterpiece Hamilton! Hamilton chronicles the life of Alexander Hamilton, from his days as an orphan on the island of Nevis to stepping up as a founding father of the United States and becoming an influencer of a nation.

It's history like you've never seen it before! Catch Hamilton at the James M. Nederlander Theatre, Until Jan 28, 2024. Book tickets here.

3. Illinoise

Decade end lists, Grammy and Oscar nominations, and cult-classic status, Sufjan Steven's 2005 album Illinoise features songs referencing places, events, and persons related to the U.S. state of Illinois, a place that has produced as many global stars as it has pumpkins. The glorious album has been translated to the stage by Justin Peck (West Side Story), and you get to see the state all from the comfort of your own city.

From warm campfire tales to the cosmos, this multidimensional spectacle is the pinnacle of storytelling, dance, and music. Illinoise is an ode to Illinoisians and a starry map for those looking to explore the area! Backed by a virtuosic cast and live band, this is your opportunity to see the landscapes and culture of one of the greatest states in the USA.

Take a trip to Illinoise, playing at the Chicago Shakespeare Theater, Jan 28 - Feb 18, 2024. Book your tickets here.

4. In The Heights

A neighbourhood on the verge of transformation, and a fusion of Latin rhythms and hip-hop. Before Hamilton, there was In the Heights - a ray of sunshine on the coldest of days, this Tony Award-winning musical is packed with a spirited combination of rap and salsa-infused melodies and lively dance routines.

The story takes place in Washington Heights, where the residents are faced with escalating rents in an ever-shifting landscape. Usnavi, a bodega owner of Dominican-American descent, dreams of opening a bar in his home country, the Dominican Republic, however, he must find a way through his challenges while the community collectively faces issues of love, identity, and freedom.

Catch In The Heights at the Marriott Theatre, Jan 24 - Mar 17, 2024. Book tickets here.

5. Fiddler on The Roof

Based on Sholom Aleichem's Tevye and his Daughter, the story of Fiddler on The Roof takes place in Anatevka, Russie, a small town steeped in tradition. It follows Tevye, a dairy farmer, and a traditionalist who aims to instill in his children Jewish traditions. However, in the tumultuous setting of Tsarist Russia in 1905, this proves to be challenging, as his daughters grow up and fall in love in a new era where the younger generation follows their hearts rather than adhering to the strict wisdom of their elders.

Catch Fiddler on The Roof at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace, from Jan 24 - Mar 17, 2024. Book tickets here.
