Jingle Rock ON
It's gonna be an emotional Christmas, as Chicago's rock station welcomes two indie icons for a special holiday concert.
Topping the bill is Death cab For Cutie. The band are currently traversing the globe in support of latest album Kintsugi, released earlier this year, which proved to be yet another solid entry in one of modern rock's most consistent catalogues. Formed in 1997, Death Cab have earned a reputation for their bitingly honest brand of emotive rock, due in large part to frontman Ben Gibbard's fearlessness in expressing his own emotional upheavels. Their records Transatlanticism and Plans remain touchstones for 2000s indie.
Playing in support of Death Cab is Best Coast, the Bethany Cosentino-fronted band who made the fuzzy lo-fi aesthetic their own in 2010 with the release of accalimed debut Crazy For You. Their latest release was this year's California Nights.
