The Chicago Symphony Orchestra welcomes renowned Dutch conductor Edo De Waart and returning special guest performer Leila Josefowicz for a rousing program of works comprised of John Adams' politically-driven yet whimsical short concert piece The Chairman Dances, Stravinsky's challenging neoclassical Violin Concerto, and Dvorak's Wagner-inspired Carnival Overture and Eighth Symphony - a soaring, life-affirming masterpiece.
Wielding her bow during the Violin Concerto, Leila Josefowicz is an American-Canadian classical violinist with an Avery Fisher Career Grant, USA Cummings Fellowship, MacArthur Fellowship and an Avery Fisher Prize under her belt. No stranger to performing with the world's leading orchestras, she is continuously praised for her full-blooded passion, poised refinement and virtuosic technique.
