Sir Andras Schiff Returns To The Chicago Symphony Orchestra

With a Grammy Award, a Mozart Medal and a Royal Academy of Music Bach Prize, not to mention a knighthood for his services to music, Sir Andras Schiff has left his indelible mark on the modern classical music era. The celebrated conductor returns to the Windy City for an evening of spectacular works, leading the Chicago Symphony Orchestra through Haydn, Bartok, Bach and Beethoven.

The programme starts with Haydn's Symphony in G Major, affectionately known as the surprise symphony for its composer's wit (embodied in a startlingly loud chord in an otherwise softly played section). This is followed by Bartok's rousing Divertimento and Bach's short yet sweet Keyboard Concerto. Closing the evening will be Beethoven's Piano Concerto Number 1, an earlier work filled with the composer's virtuosic and rapid passagework.
