With special guest Yo-Yo Ma!
Prodigious cellist Yo-Yo Ma is the star guest at this special show that showcases three works by Stravinsky, John Adams, and a world premiere piece by Finnish orchestral conductor and composer Esa-Pekka Salonen. America's sweetheart, composer Adams' Slonimsky's Earbox provides the first movement of the program, followed by Salonen's world premiere Cello Concerto, performed by Yo-Yo-Ma. The evening is rounded off by a brief foray into the world of ballet with lovelorn puppet Petrushka by Stravinksy, which to this date remains one of the most striking modern orchestral works.
Needing almost no introduction, multiple Grammy-winning cellist Yo-Yo Ma is arguably classical music's biggest star. The American virtuoso performs all over the world to sold-out houses and remains one of the best-selling recording artists in the classical field. His versatility, energy, and pure love of creating and performing exquisite music make him a favorite for audiences of all ages.
