Long before a certain musical phenomenon had us riveted by the country's founding came 1776, a witty and compelling account of the days leading up to the signing of the Declaration of Independence, by Sherman Edwards and Peter Stone. Through song and dance, this 1969 Tony winner shines a light on some of our history's most important characters as they gear up for the momentous occasion.
Now celebrating 50 years, Porchlight Music Theatre revisits the show, lending their first rate talent to this important tale.
What is the story of 1776?
Hamilton might be across town giving us the inside scoop on one founding father, but prepare to give 1776 a chance to show you Ben Franklin, John Adams and Thomas Jefferson in an entirely new light. Educational and thrilling, this boundary changing musical is a wonderful night out for all the family.
