SAW THIS IN BOSTON.

I saw this show in Boston and it was incredible. The original cast was amazing. Lauren Patten was a powerhouse who brought the audience to a standing ovation in the middle of the show. If the new cast is remotely as good as the old one it will be an incredible production.

POWERFUL, REAL AND NOSTALGIC

I read the reviews before going to the show and was kind of worried. A lot of them said the play was disjointed and too dark. I think they missed the point and maybe had never actually listened to the album because it’s about rage, relationship conflict, and self discovery. I also have been to a fair amount of plays and I think this was the best play I have seen in a long time. The singers were incredible, the story line fluidly fit in the songs in a moving way, they had a great balance between heaviness and humor, there was a live band on stage, the choreography was amazing and helped convey a lot of the story line and raw emotions, and it brought up relevant topics that have touched many of our lives. Also if you grew up in the 90s it really takes you back. Expect to laugh, cry, and want to sing along. The one critique I will agree with is that there were some parts where it was hard to hear the words over the music.

SEATTLE PARAMOUNT NOV 9, 2022

Wow! Blew me away! I absolutely loved it! Can’t recommend it enough! I’ve never seen a play try to tackle the idea of intergenerational trauma from sex assault and do it in a way where you leave feeling hopeful that things can change. As a survivor, it was really moving for me and I just wanted to say thank you. It made me feel a sense of power and support that I can’t explain and embodied a lot of the ways alanis’s music has allowed me to feel angry, strong and seen over the years.

WELL DONE!

Even with a half dozen understudies, this was a great show. Family dysfunction, sexual assault, tough topics carried out well, and even brought a sense of hope. A little coarse at times, so not sure if I'd bring young children.

TRY AGAIN!!!

After looking forward to this play, I was terribly disappointed by depressing dysfunctional attempt at a play! Don't waste your money, go buy the Alanis album! Sorry ☹️

WOKE LITTLE PILL

The sound and singers were not of the level we are used to at a Pantages performance. If I have seen 100 shows, this was 99 because certainly I have seen something worse. Depressing woke story about a dysfunctional white family...not carried out very well. Don't waste your time. Many left early.

2.0 star rating Patricia Anderson from San Francisco, California

COULD HAVE BEEN SO MUCH BETTER

To start with, the acoustics were horrendous...the music was incredibly loud which meant none of our party understood the songs with any clarity...it was just noise. Spoken dialog was fine. Play itself was incredibly disjointed. Positive comments: the dancing/choreography was very entertaining and the sets were incredibly creative and enjoyable to watch.
