MEDIOCRE, CLICHED PLAY WITH A BANAL PLOT
When I read the title of this new play, I hoped it wouldn't resort to the usual, banal tropes used in plays that try to depict the 'modern' man full of doubts and insecurities. I hoped we wouldn't hear jokes about being gay, men wearing wigs to feel finally liberated, etc. And unfortunately this is what you get from this immensely mediocre play. Of course during a support group from men who happens to take place in Boystown, of course you're going to have the sudden appearance of a young man dressed as a girl and wearing a big red wig. This is the young man that of course will teach the other straight men how to feel freer and more in touch with their feelings. This is truly garbage and I expected more from the Goodman Theater.
