A special one-night only event to celebrate the tenor!
The Lyric Opera of Chicago will be bringing star power to its stage this March, with legendary tenor Placido Domingo! The mixed program starts with Act Two of Verdi's La Traviata, where Domingo will take on the singing role of Georgio Germont, where he will be joined by debut artist soprano Ailyn Perez and tenor Michael Spyres. After intermission, the second part of the evening will feature the three singers perform a selection of French and Italian arias from the operatic repertoire. Celebrate an operatic living legend with this special one-off night of musical greatness!
As arguably the most famous tenor and baritone singer in the world today, Domingo has sung an astonishing 147 different roles, a record breaker in that no other tenor has sung as many! With more than 3,600 career performances to his name, this astonishingly varied repertoire includes the works of Mozart, Verdi, Berlioz, Puccini, Wagner and Ginastera, which he has performed at all of the world's major opera houses. This evening will be conducted by Maestro Eugene Kohn.
