BLOODY GOOD PRODUCTION IN ALL SENSES OF THE TERM
Saw Lyric's Die Walkure last night and was quite impressed. The staging is extremely good, with only a few "what the heck are they doing??!" points to interrupt the suspension of disbelief. (The floating hotdogs at the end, for instance.) I fell in love with Jovanovich's Siegmund--a weary, burdened man who has the sneaking feeling that the fates are pushing him around but has no idea how to get out of the trap he is in. Eric Owens does a very good job vocally with Wotan, although I felt he could have done more dramatically. And Goerke's Brunnhilde is fantastic.
