The Joffrey Ballet's annual holiday ballet returns following a critically acclaimed reinvention by the iconic Christopher Wheeldon in 2016. The previous Joffrey version ran for many years, becoming the Number One Chicago Christmas tradition, and has returned annually to wow its die-hard fans since 1987! Chicago's beautiful Auditorium Theatre plays host to this much-loved Holiday tale which pays homage to the city and its inhabitants. Truly a Nutcracker made just for Chicago!
The must see tradition has been boldly reimagined for the new generation, with a revamped storyline taking our characters to visit the wonder of the 1893 World Fair, held right here in Chicago over 100 years ago! When young Marie and her mother host a holiday party, the charming - and equally mysterious - Great Impresario pays them a surprise visit. Together, they set off on a Christmas Eve dream full of adventure and romance!
Christoper Wheeldon received a Tony Award for his work on the choreography of the Broadway hit, An American in Paris.
