Why See Aladdin?
12 Week Chicago Engagement
Disney's blockbuster Broadway musical is heading out on its first ever national tour in 2017, and what better venue to kick it off than Chicago's Cadillac Palace Theatre! Based on the classic animated movie from 1992, the story follows the lovable street urchin Aladdin, who must defeat the evil sorcerer Jafar, while trying to win the heart of the Princesss Jasmine. As everyone child knows, he's helped along the way by the larger than life Genie.
This spectacular show includes all the classic tracks from the movie ('A Whole New World', 'Prince Ali'), alongside specially written new numbers by Alan Menken and Chad Beguelin. Perfectly marrying the source material with lavish design, costumes and theatrical invention, shows on the level of Aladdin don't come along too often! Greeted with five Tony nominations upon its Broadway debut, Aladdin has launched international versions as far away as Japan, but this is the first time it's played outside of New York in America.
WHAT IS ALADDIN ABOUT?
Aladdin is a charming street urchin in Agrabah, who, when 'exploring' the mysterious Cave of Wonders, uncovers an ancient lamp that proves to be more than just a lighting solution. He unwittingly frees the lamp's resident wacky Genie, who grants him three wishes. Transformed from pauper to Prince, Aladdin catches the eye of beautiful but bored Princess Jasmine, who longs for some adventure of her own!
But it's not all a smooth magic carpet ride, because Aladdin isn't the only one that knows of the lamp's power. Enter the nefarious Jafar and his minions, who have plans for three wishes of their own and it's up to Aladdin to defeat him to keep the Kingdom from his clutches.
