Why see Joffrey Ballet - Giselle?
If you go down to the woods today
Lovingly detailed and perfectly pitched, let Lola de Avila's rendition of Giselle sweep you from your seat and take you deep into an enchanted wood haunted by the Wilis. Beautiful yet full of malice, it is amongst these terrible specters that young peasant Giselle finds herself after her untimely death. One of the best of the Romantic ballets, de Avila has created a wonderful and spellbinding production that'll please fans old and new.
Giselle first debuted in Paris in June 1841 and has long been a coveted role for ballerinas around the world. Although it has supernatural themes, Giselle has always been considered a truly human story of heartbreak and loss.
