Celebrating the 100th stage show by Emerald City
The award-winning childrens' book by Ezra Jack Keats has already enjoyed a 2016 adaptation to animated movie status on Amazon, and now The Snowy Day And Other Stories is headed to the Chicago stage! A new show for three-to-nine year-olds, Emerald City marks its 100th production with a family friendly show that celebrates everything special about first experiences. Become enchanted with the experience of a small child growing up in the big city experiencing their first snowfall, a first pet, and a first crush.
A Snowy Day was first published in 1962 and is notable for being the first picture book featuring African American protagonist. Just one of four Keats’ phenomenally successful books, his work garnered two Caldecott Awards, and remains an important part of African American literature after five decades. Its animated movie special on Amazon was narrated by Laurence Fishburne and featured music from soul band Boyz II Men.
