Why see Inherit The Wind?
A Change Blows Through Hillsboro
Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee's unforgettable play, Inherit The Wind, will take the stand at the Windy City's Goodman Theatre this fall. The writers based their work on the 1925 Scopes "Monkey" Trial, a fearsome battle of creationists and scientists. The Goodman's own Henry Godinez will direct, with Broadway star Alexander Gemignani as prosecutor Brady and Hollywood actor Harry Lennix as defense attorney Drummond. Since its debut in 1955, the show has won three Tony Awards and been adapted into four movies. A historical spectacle that must be seen to be believed!
What Is The Story?
Not too long ago, in the small town of Hillsboro, high school teacher Bertram Cates found himself in trouble after teaching the outlawed theory of evolution. The question is raised, must we believe everything that we are told, or is it indeed possible to go against the grain and think for ourselves?
