Love it!!!!!!!!! Wanted to take Dottiie home with me. . Brought back allot of memories. Nice to laugh for 2 hours. Highly recommend it
Great Fun, but still a little peckish.
I've sat through several four hour opera productions, so when I say the show is a little too short, I know what I'm talking about. The cast was great, the songs and numbers were plentiful, quirky and funny, and the band, set and wardrobe were spot on. The story promised a more material to work with than it delivered: four friends from a small Chicago suburb meet for a weekly cooking club during socially changing times in America. Then they meet again 10 years later. It's definitely fun, entertaining and worth seeing. But there's plenty of room to flesh out the story, and I think the themes deserves a little bit more time. It's great to see with friends, parents or "tweens" and teens (the 1950's-version of racy material would go over the heads of younger kids, so no worries) it would be fun to have someone to discuss the themes with after and look at the fun displays in the lobby. There's not a bad seat in the intimate Broadway Playhouse Theater. Good restaurants abound.
Singing and Dancing Show
The theatre itself, and location, are both great.. The script keeps mentioning Winnetka, yet it's apparent that they don't really know much about the town to anyone familiar with it. I think women 70-80 would find this play amusing and would be familiar with many household and cultural references made in the script.
