Beauty And The Beast at Drury Lane Theatre Oakbrook Terrace

Why see Beauty And The Beast?

Tale As Old As Time...

Beauty and The Beast has captivated generations of audiences young and old since the original story was first penned by French novelist Gabrielle-Suzanne Barbot de Villeneuve in 1740. The story became one of the greatest romances in the Disney universe with the release of the 1991 animated film, which spawned this Tony nominated Broadway musical, as well as a subsequent live action feature film in 2017 starring Emma Watson.

Now it enjoys a local revival at Chicago's Drury Lane Theatre, rounding off their brand new 2018/19 theatre season. The story follows heroine Belle, a booksmart beauty who yearns for more than the provincial life her little town can offer. When her inventor father Maurice fails to return home from a local fair, she rushes to his rescue, only to find he is imprisoned in a long forgotten castle.

Once a prince cursed for his vanity, the castle's ruler is a fearsome beast. However disfigured on the outside, the beast allows Maurice his freedom in exchange for Belle. He may have just met his match in the fiery, independent young woman... Teacups come to life and the inhabitants of the castle rejoice as the unlikely pair start to fall in love.
