Terrance McNally revisits the characters from his 1990 television film Andre's Mother, in Mothers and Sons. Twenty years on from Andre's untimely death during the AIDS epidemic, Katherine pays an uninvited visit to Cal, Andre's partner who has now moved on with his own husband and child, in an attempt to reconcile herself to him and to the ever evolving society around her.
Premiering on Broadway in 2014, Mothers and Sons is McNally's 33rd play and was nominated for a two Tony Awards that year. If you're looking for a moving and resonant LGBT drama, you've come to the right place.
