August Wilson's Pulitzer nominated work explores race in 1969 Pittsburgh
The year is 1969, and the Civil Rights movement is sweeping across America. This wind of change does little to stir the patrons of Memphis' Diner though, who are for the time being still facing a life of hardship and discrimination. First performed on Broadway in 1992, August Wilson's Two Trains Running is one of the writer's most affecting works, conveying its message through adept characterisation and a current of subtle humour. This Goodman Theatre production is directed by Chuck Smith and stars Terry Bellamy, Chester Gregory and Anthony Irons.
Two Trains Running is part of the August Wilson Celebration, a series of events throughout March and April across Chicago honoring the work of the two-time Pulitzer winning playwright.
