Two of 2014's brightest alternative rock artists play this special holiday concert
Chicago's rock radio station 93XRT holds a series of big holiday concert every year, and the line-up for 2014 is looking pretty incredible. Mainstream rock titans Nickleback play on December 3rd, but for the more alternatively minded music connoisseur, the 2nd of December's concert is looking pretty unmissable.
Headlining is art-rock goddess St. Vincent. Real name Annie Clark, the wild-haired singer's latest eponymous release was met with the tidal wave of critical acclaim which greets every new St Vincent album. Featuring the tracks Digital Witness and Birth in Reverse, it once again demonstrated she's one of the most innovative and eclectic artists that rock has to offer. Oh, and she can shred with the best of them.
One of the buzz bands of 2014, Future Islands, will provide her support. This band have been creating electronic pop goodness for nearly a decade, but it wasn't until this year's stunning album Singles, and a memorable appearance on David Letterman, that they finally got the critical and popular recognition they deserved.
