Unique voices
Joffrey Ballet presents three spectacular and individual pieces for it's Unique Voices season. From Man in Black, James Kudelka's tribute to Johnny Cash, to Alexander Ekaman's cheeky Tulle, these pieces display the versatility and talents of the Joffrey's breathtaking company.
Maninyas
Exploring the nature of 'unveiling' that comes with forming new relationships, Maninyas describes the spiritual and physical changes that come when exposing yourself to a new person. This abstract work blends classical with contemporary to create this compelling portrait of love.

Man in Black
Though using popular music is far from novel in ballet, this Johnny Cash tribute has a freshness in it, as the dancers navigate the emotions within in Cash's last six covers, from delight to anguish. With country and western elements woven in, The Man in Black is a vivid showcase that will not disappoint.
Choreogrpahy: James Kudelka
Music: Johnny Cash
Tulle
An appealing take on ballet itself, Alexander Ekman prefers to call himself a 'Balletographer' as Tulle is both and journey and answer to his own questions about dance, including elements of famous routines from Swan Lake, Coppelia et al. A warm and delightfully witty look at what ballet is, where it came from and why it requires such hard shoes.
